Abbey College London, the first of the Abbey group, was founded in 1985 and is a specialist A-Level College for students of 16 years and above. The college has gained a reputation for its outstanding A-Level grades and has frequently been placed amongst the top four independent sixth form colleges in the UK.

David Lowe, Principal

David Lowe read English at Gonville & Caius College Cambridge, where he was a Choral Exhibitioner, and at the Mozarteum Music Academy in Salzburg, Austria, where he studied solo singing.

Following a career in independent schools, as teacher, head of department, and deputy head, David was appointed Principal of Cambridge Tutors College in 1997. Over a period of eleven years CTC achieved growing success and recognition in the sector. David moved to DLD as Principal in 2008 and was promoted to the joint Principalship of both DLD and Abbey College London in 2011.
